Catherine Restrepo AKA guignol was born in Medellin (Colombia) and currently lives in Bogota DC; As polifacetic as a polymorph, schooled in architecture, former cabaret comedian, stylist; artist and amateur writer, and recently, a romantic singer-songwriter. She wants to pull Fidel’s beard to see if it is real and has no intention of getting her driver’s license.
She is a creator who understands art as something open, where everything is possible, a catalyzer of external stimulations, therefore resulting in detritus (debris, junk, rubble), which is a reference point to see the rest of the world: “WE ARE WHAT WE EAT”.
Life is real, some say, but how real is the band that holds the instrument with which
to execute the dreams of a complex being? How real are the signs and symbols of a
society not only of contrasts but also in contradiction? Therefore reality is represented and contextualized, once again, within the framework of the surreal, a true faith of greater tolerance, the same way she constructs her images.
Catherine Restrepo AKA guignol, nació en Medellín, y actualmente reside en Bogotá (Colombia); Polifácetica y casi que polimorfa, formada en arquitectura, ex cómica de cabaret, estilista, artista , escritora amateur; y, últimamente, cantautora romántica. Quiere halarle la barba a Fidel para saber si es verdadera y no tiene intención alguna de sacar el pase de conducir.
Es una creadora que entiende el arte como algo abierto, libre, en el que todo es posible, ya que este es un catalizador de estímulos externos cuyo resultado es el detritus: (desecho, desperdicio, despojo) y a este como un referente para mirar al resto del mundo: “UNO ES LO QUE COME”.
La vida es real dicen, pero qué tan real es la banda que sostiene el instrumento con el que se ejecutan los sueños de un ser complejo. Qué tan reales son los signos y símbolos de una sociedad no sólo de contrastes sino también contradictoria. Así lo real es representado y recontextualizado dentro de un marco surreal, como verdadera fe de una vida de mayor tolerancia, como la misma técnica como ella construye sus imagenes.
